So You Don't Need To Exercise On Keto? WRONG!
So you've heard everyone say that you don't need to exercise on keto and of course you thought – “if I could lose weight without exercising that would be AMAZING!”
Well I hate to burst your bubble BUT while there is some truth to that statement (more on that later), there's a lot of misinformation in that one little sentence!
Without a doubt, exercise is extremely important regardless of what type of eating plan you're following!
So it makes no difference whether you are following a low carb diet or the keto lifestyle or anything else. Your body actually craves and needs exercise!
Now let's get back to WHY you need to exercise on keto.
Exercising increases your metabolism, encourages your body to continue to burn it's fat for fuel and most importantly – will help you lose the LBS and inches much faster and more consistently than if you were not exercising!
Can You Lose Weight On Keto Without Exercise? YES!
Now let's get back to that original statement… Technically you can lose weight without exercising BUT (and it's a HUGE BUT) it will more than likely take you longer because your body will slow down and regulate itself over time because it will become more efficient at burning it's stored fuel (fat).
Plus, incorporating EXERCISE into your daily/weekly routine will allow your body to firm up and continuously burn fat at a consistent rate that following keto alone won't do! And let’s face it- the primary reason for exercising is to look good and feel good!
I mean yeah there are some health benefits which are really nice! But let me just be brutally honest here for a minute. Most people work out because they want to look a certain way and that often takes priority even over their own health!
Now back to reality! Diet alone will never help you achieve the body you want! Even though diet is super essential because it supplies the building blocks and sets the stage for your desired outcome. But diet alone can not help you build muscle or tone up loose skin. You'll have to add exercise to your routine to make that happen!

Exercise Will Improve Your Insulin Sensitivity
Now another thing many people don't realize is that exercise can improve your insulin sensitivity. This is really important for women as we age our insulin sensitivity decreases… right along with our level of physical activity!
Women who live sedentary lifestyles are much more likely to have elevated levels of blood glucose, a higher level of insulin secretion throughout the course of the day, are more likely to retain excess body fat which only paves the way to pre-diabetes.
This is why exercise, and more specifically weight bearing, anaerobic exercise, has been shown to improve the efficiency of insulin in response to blood glucose, or amino acid levels, and will help promote the absorption of nutrients which is so important while on keto.
So if you’re trying to get the maximum benefit from following the keto lifestyle then exercise is absolutely mandatory!
Your overall health will significantly improve!
Your glucose and lipid profile will significantly improve!
And most importantly…
Your overall body composition will significantly improve!
Want to look and feel your best? Make sure you incorporate cardio and weight bearing exercise into your weekly routine!
In the beginning exercising may seem difficult, especially during the first two weeks.
This is especially true while your body is adapting to the ketogenic lifestyle. But stay the course because once your body efficiently begins producing ketones, fat loss, strength, and muscle gains will ensue!
